Review of Hankyu Ferry Settsu | Japan’s Ferry Experience | Fukuoka – Kobe

Hankyu Ferry SETTSU began service on the Shinmoji-Kobe route, connecting Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture and Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture, on March 10, 2020.

The name is derived from the old name of the province, Settsu Province (which corresponds to what is now northern Osaka Prefecture and southeastern Hyogo Prefecture), from the Asuka period (593) to the early Meiji period (1872).

This time, the voyage was a 12 hour and 30 minute trip on the Hankyu Ferry Settsu.

What are the differences between Hankyu Ferry “Settsu/Yamato” and “Izumi/Hibiki”?

Entrance inside the Hankyu Ferry Settsu

It is common for two ships to be built at the same time when a new vessel is launched on Hankyu Ferry. These ships are called sister ships.

The only difference between Hankyu Ferry “Settsu” and “Yamato” is the color scheme inside the ship; otherwise, the facilities and room arrangements are exactly the same.

The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of seating!

There are four-person tables by the windows, so you can enjoy your meal while taking in the outside view with your group.

The highlight of dining on the ship is enjoying your meal while looking at the sea.
When you board the ferry, I recommend sitting by the window (^-^)

Hankyu Ferry’s restaurant operates on a cafeteria-style system, where each dish is priced individually.
You choose the dishes you want and take them to the cashier to pay.

Drinks like water, hot water, and tea are free and can be refilled.
